OUR FOUNDATION

Our founders, Nina Gonzalez & Hector Castillo met whilst completing their Master degrees at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation in New York City and worked together under the mentorship of Sebastian Mariscal in his architecture & development practice in Boston.

Their design work has been published by Living Architecture, ENR New England, Boston Society of Architects, Columbia GSAPP and Columbia School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. They have been invited to do talks and tours of their work, hosted by Boston Society of Architects, Climate Beacon Conference, AyalaLand, the University of the Philippines, National Geographic, SMMA and Sasaki Foundation.

Previously, Hector Castillo graduated with a Bachelor in Architecture from Universidad Anahuac, Certificate in Construction Project Management from Universidad Iberoamericana and worked in Gomez Vazquez Internacional in Mexico City, and with renowned graphic designer, Lance Wyman in New York City. During his time at Columbia University, Hector did studio work under Jorge Ambrosi, Gabriela Etchegaray and Steven Holl. His design work has been published by IL Notario Magazine.

Hector currently serves as an Architectural Project Manager of The Curious. Design™.

Previously, Nina Gonzalez graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of the Philippines, Diliman , and worked as a registered architect under the mentorship of Anna Sy of C|S Architecture in Manila, with Stephen Yablon Architecture in New York City and with Sebastian Mariscal as his architecture firm’s Head of Studio in Boston. During her time at Columbia University, she was awarded the William Kinne Fellows Travelling Prize and did studio work under Jorge Ambrosi, Gabriela Etchegaray, Olga Aleksakova, Julia Burdova and Bernard Tschumi. Her design work has been published by Architectural Record, FNB Report, CNN Philippines, Tatler, Philippine Tatler, Wallpaper*, E-Flux, Design Anthology and Mostra Internazionale di Architettura Partecipazioni Nazionali, La Biennale di Venezia.

Nina currently serves as the Managing Director of The Curious. Design™.

We have over eighteen years of extremely hands-on experience in projects across the Americas and Asia as architectural designers, project managers, construction managers, in doing new construction, adaptive reuse, and renovation in commercial, residential and exhibition projects.

The Curious. Design™ was founded to support inspired clients who seek practical solutions as well as creative architectural design to elevate space into an architectural experience.
