Gulls Way is a landscape project located in a residential plot that is next to Sheep Pond in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
The owner wanted to further define characteristic and intentional use of her ample exterior space through native specie landscapes, and local hardscape material. The studio created different and unique experiences in the landscape ranging from a “Valley Pass” where on can access the pond beyond by going through steps in between a valley of native shrubs and ornamental flowers, a fire pit area with lounging hammock and treehouse designed to nestle within an existing three-pronged white oak, a “Meadow” of native groundcover and wildflowers that are meant to act as a a bioswale to receive any additional run off from its driveway of pervious paver finish, and a “Secret Garden” that is niched into an array of textured native ferns, shrubs, grasses and ornamental flowers.
The overall landscape was conceptualized to be have alternating blooms of perennials through the seasons for an ever-changing view of its landscape in different times of the year.
