  • Picaro is a four-storey residence with two subfloors that are nestled on a cliff at the coastal zone of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

The residence is designed as a home for its musician-Owner with separately accessed pavilion suites to be used as short-term rentals with amenity space.

The concept was to create a scaffolding like pebble wash concrete sculpture to host the architectural program, and generate an atmosphere of Surrealism.

The main villa is four-storeys high with one main suite, and two other suites for guests with separate private access. Each suite has its own private patio, and shares kitchen, dining and living spaces, bar and lounge, steam room, pool, hammock nets to suspend oneself over and above outdoor gardens, while enjoying the view of the South Pacific ocean.

By leveraging on the terrain of the property along a steep slope that overlooks the water, the subfloors are wedged into the sloping terrain and thus are enabled to additionally host three suites with their own privates baths, outdoor patios and a music production studio.

All of which have separate and private access through underground tunnel pathways, and have private ocean views.

We were part of the architectural team that provided conceptual, schematic design, and design development services for this project.
